2011 Les Faverelles Bourgogne Vezelay “Les nez de Muse” Organic/Biodynamic 12% No Oak

You have to love a wine named after a vineyard dog.  They swear she knows exactly when the grapes have reached perfection, she starts eating them.  If you look closely at the label “Muse” has a most discriminate tase for ripeness.  They share a purity of place and spirit most wines only hope to achieve.

I was simply blown away by this outlier of Bourgogne bursting at the seam with limestone minerality and lemon lime zesty acidity, so pure!  More Chablis in spirit than Bourgogne, after the second or third sip the personality begins to effervesce, a slight spritz delivers aromas of dried apricot and sea air alongside dried lemon peel.  This pale gold elixir is loaded with dry extract and finishes with wet stone mineral water.  The secondary flavors are reminiscent of a salted Meyer Lemon curd and dried blenheim apricot.  Truly a feminine expression of terroir.  I can’s get enough of her, she’s breezy and intoxicating and asking me to waltz.
